A community walk, entertainment and family-friendly activities, the event brings people together to build a healthier, safer community.

The National Walk Against Ice is a community walk held in towns and cities across Australia. It brings together service providers, youth groups, churches, sporting clubs, schools and local businesses to raise awareness of the harm caused by Ice and to stand alongside the families living with it. Participants register in advance and walk a short, pre-approved route together, followed by a gathering in the park.

Details

  • Assemble: 10am to 11am
  • Event: 11am to 12pm
  • Disassemble: 4pm
  • Route: Nikiforides Family Park to Kurrawa Park, and back

Nikiforides Family Park has been chosen for parking and public toilet access. The route is planned to avoid public road crossings.

After the walk there is a sausage sizzle, a guest speaker, and display tables for participating community organisations and service providers.

The Australian Anti Ice Campaign (AAIC) is a registered charity that has delivered drug education, prevention and support across Australia since 2015. Our work is led by people with lived experience of Ice addiction, and our message is a simple one – Not Even Once. We were named Gold Coast Community Organisation of the Year in 2017 and are a nominee for the Safer Suburbs Award 2026. We also operate the 1800 NO TO ICE helpline.

Every walk we hold produces the same three outcomes: education and awareness reaching people who would not otherwise hear it, families and individuals coming forward to seek help through AAIC and the 1800 NO TO ICE helpline, and a reduction in the harm this drug causes in the community it passes through.
