Five artists. Five unique perspectives. A whole lot of colour, connection and passion.

Colour & Connection brings together five artists, Elisabeth Brain, Jenny Bridgman, Jean Collins, Joan O’Brien and Judy Spain each with their own distinctive approach to painting, yet connected by a genuine love of colour, creativity and the process of putting paint to canvas.

While their individual works explore different subjects, techniques and sources of inspiration, together they create a vibrant and wonderfully diverse collection.

From expressive mark-making and considered compositions to playful explorations of colour, light and form, the exhibition celebrates the many ways painting can be used to interpret, respond to and connect with the world around us.

At the heart of Colour & Connection is the idea that no two artists see quite the same way. Each brings their own experiences, observations and visual language to the canvas, creating works that are personal, individual and open to interpretation.

What connects them is not a single style or subject, but the joy of painting itself the experimentation, the discovery and, of course, a healthy love of pigment.

There is something wonderfully infectious about a group of artists who simply love to paint. These five artists have plenty of colour to share, and Colour & Connection invites visitors to slow down, look closely and discover the individual stories within each work.

The artists are delighted to share this collection with you and hope the exhibition sparks curiosity, conversation and perhaps even a renewed appreciation for the simple, powerful pleasure of paint.
