Sunroom – Your Story at HOTA Gallery

Friday 27 March 2026 | 10:00 AM

Surfers Paradise
The Sunroom program provides a safe creative space for art-making, creative play and exploration for adults with a disability.

Lisa Sorbie Martin is a Gold Coast based, multidisciplinary artist whose practice incorporates motifs and patterns drawn from her bloodline ties to Mer Island and Mua Island. To celebrate the opening of Aka Sorbie: Saltwater Heart, this workshop will take a sculptural approach to exploring our own stories through art.

Following a series of creative brainstorming activities, we will create our own sculptural hangings using wool or raffia to thread and tie sculpted objects, beads and texts that reflect our family, community and favourite things.

No prior art making experience is necessary, only a willingness to engage your imagination, curiosity and sense of play.

Recommended for ages 16+.
