Sunroom – Beneath the Surface

Friday 22 May 2026 | 10:00 AM

Surfers Paradise
The Sunroom program provides a safe creative space for artmaking, creative play and exploration for adults with a disability.

A number of artists in Beneath the Surface explore the unique physical and metaphorical qualities of water. In this workshop, participants will create artworks that express the magical, mysterious character of lakes, rivers and oceans – using the sgraffito technique to create patterns of light, dark and movement.

Sgraffito is the process of scratching into a surface to reveal contrasting underlayers.

No prior art making experience is necessary, only a willingness to engage your imagination, curiosity and sense of play.

Recommended for ages 16+.
