Learn how one of the Gold Coast’s most important water sources is managed at a behind-the-scenes tour of Hinze Dam, the region’s primary drinking water supply.
Built across the Nerang River, Hinze Dam has played a vital role in water security since its construction in 1976. It was raised in 1989 and significantly upgraded in 2011 to increase its storage capacity and enhance flood mitigation.
This guided tour will give you a unique insight into how Seqwater manages Hinze Dam to supply safe drinking water.
Whether you're curious about water treatment, the dam’s role in managing floods and droughts, or simply keen to see the dam wall up close, this tour is for you!
Minimum age for this tour is 12 years.
As this is an operational site, safety is our top priority. All guests must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while visiting the dam.
Mandatory PPE requirements
- Full-length trousers
- Long-sleeved shirt
- Enclosed flat shoes
As this is a walking tour, a good level of fitness and mobility is required. Please apply sunscreen and wear a hat.
For safety reasons, filming is not permitted during the tour. However, you’re welcome to take photos in designated areas as pointed out by your tour guide.
