Come along, bring a friend, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of acoustic music with a great bunch of local performers and music lovers.

I enjoy experiencing live music with my wife because she uses a very simple two-part metric for any act:

  • Are they talented?
  • Are they enjoying themselves?

For September’s feature act, The Swing Beans, they definitely hit the mark on both counts.

The Swing Beans play old jazz with a traditional feel, using archtop guitars, fiddle and double bass, all topped off with plenty of vocal harmonies.

They’ve been described as unique and “cool”, putting their own spin on Texas swing favourites as well as up-tempo jazz songs from the 1920s through to the 1950s.

Lisa Lombardi regularly finds inspiration while travelling and playing back in the US, and the Beans continue to bring fresh songs and tunes into their repertoire. Above all, they clearly enjoy what they do — and invite the audience to join in the fun.

The Swing Beans are:

Lisa Lombardi and Julie Witney on archtop guitars and vocals, Heather Smart on fiddle, and Roger Brand on upright bass and vocals.
