Celebrate storytelling, creativity, and community at the inaugural Movie Sense Short Film Festival, a free family friendly event proudly supported by Division 14 Councillor Gail O’Neill and the City of Gold Coast.

Join us at the Kirra Hill Community and Cultural Centre in the heart of Coolangatta for a vibrant day of independent film, live local music, art displays, food and drinks, kids' activities including face painting, and high-quality public entertainment. This new cultural event puts the southern Gold Coast on the map as a dynamic hub for screen talent and family fun.

Highlights

Curated Short Film Screenings: Experience a powerful line-up of inspirational and motivational short films (under 5 minutes) from high school students, emerging creatives, and established filmmakers around the world. From heartfelt true stories to uplifting tales of hope, courage, and perseverance, discover unique voices on the big screen. (Family friendly content only; no horror.)
The Industry Pavilion: A dedicated networking space connecting students, graduates, and emerging practitioners with local production companies, training providers, and screen industry professionals, building real pathways for Gold Coast talent.
Industry Awards and Cash Prizes: Celebrate excellence across filmmaking departments with major cash prizes: 1st Place: AU$3,000 | 2nd Place: AU$1,500 | 3rd Place: AU$500. Additional awards and prizes announced on the day.
