Southport
Join us for a vibrant, unforgettable celebration of Matariki, the Māori New Year.

As the Pleiades star cluster rises, marking the beginning of the new year in the Māori lunar calendar, we’re coming together to honour culture, connection, and community at CSi Club Southport.

Bring your friends and family for an afternoon and evening filled with the spirit of Aotearoa and the broader South Pacific.

What’s On

Live Music from Mista Big Stuff

Enjoy the energetic sounds of Mista Big Stuff, a talented Kiwi band bringing us the best of New Zealand music, RnB, and Reggae.

Te Puna Mataatahi (Kapa Haka)

We are honored to host this 20-piece Kapa Haka group from Keebra Park State High School, led by Māori Cultural Teacher Dean Harawira. This is a history-making performance; these talented students are the first from an Australian school to take the Māori stage at the ASB Polyfest. For many, this performance is a powerful opportunity to reconnect with their roots.

Heilani Polynesian School of Arts

Founded by husband-and-wife duo Heimana Tahiata and Lelani Lynn Tafua Tahiata, this world-class dance troupe celebrates 20 years of teaching Polynesian culture. Expect a stunning showcase featuring dances from New Zealand, Hawaii, and Tahiti, complete with traditional costume changes and interactive moments for the audience.

This is a beautiful opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich traditions and contemporary culture of the South Pacific. Whether you’re here for the powerful Kapa Haka, the island rhythms, or simply the warmth of our community, we can’t wait to celebrate the new year with you, don’t miss out on this free event!

Mark your calendars and join us for a day of music, culture, and community at CSi Club Southport.
