Saddle up and celebrate the Year of the Horse in Chinatown this Lunar New Year, with entertainment, amazing food deals, kids’ activities and fireworks!

Trot down to Chinatown, Southport, where a vibrant melting pot of colour, cuisine, celebration and cultural entertainment awaits!

2026 is the Year of the Horse – representing vitality and perseverance.

Our Lunar New Year festivities kick off at 3pm along Davenport and Young Streets and include:

  • Lion and dragon dancers
  • Kids’ activities (including lotus origami making, Chinese stamp making, woodblock printing, Chinese name writing, face painting and diabolo playing)
  • Interactive wishing tree
  • Kizuna drummers
  • Food trucks
  • Market stalls
  • Fireworks finale at 7:30pm.

The $5 Food Safari is back and will have you galloping around Chinatown feasting on the best $5 deals Southport has to offer! Keep an eye out for the downloadable map.
