June Coast Acoustics Unplugged – The Larks

We’re lucky to live in a region like SE Queensland, where there’s no shortage of incredible talent thanks to the many festivals and gatherings held throughout the year.

This month’s feature act, The Larks, are a perfect example. I first heard them at the 2024 Neurum Creek Festival, and their songs and harmonies immediately stood out.

The Larks (Sam Chittenden, Nonie Malone, Janet O’Brien, and John Stafford) are Brisbane-based unaccompanied group who bring to life centuries-old English traditional folk songs in glorious harmony. They sing songs of love, drinking, work, war, and weird and wonderful ceremonial songs. They welcome you to lustily join in choruses, refrains and even the verses if you know them. They have sung at most of the Brisbane and SEQ festivals over the last two years and are finally making their first journey south.

Schedule

• 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM - Open Mic (White Board Session). Bring your stories, your instruments, your voice, your favourite song – whatever your heart desires. The stage is open to all. Sign-ups are first-come, first-served!
• 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM - Grab a cold drink from our bar, sit back, and be entertained by The Larks.

Our open mic stands out from others with our dedicated audience, no distractions and professional sound. Immerse yourself in the artistry of the performances with like-minded people.
