This special concert blends Western orchestral sound with the traditional Japanese tones of shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) and koto (a traditional Japanese string instrument), creating a unique fusion of classical elegance and meditative Eastern melodies.
Curtis Patterson on koto. Bruce Huebner on shakuhachi.
Nurtured by respect for tradition and the aesthetic of wabi-sabi and inspired by Japan’s natural beauty, Také to Ito – bamboo and strings – vividly captures the essence of Japan’s traditional music.
