The City is inviting residents to bring their e-waste, household linen, fire extinguishers and vapes to a central location for recycling.
Give your unwanted household items a second life and help keep valuable resources out of our fast filling landfills. Join the City of Gold Coast's Community Recycling Drop and Go Event and safely dispose of a range of problem household items, free of charge!
Recycle your household e-waste, linen, old fire extinguishers and vapes! These are household items that cannot be recycled through the existing kerbside collections.
By participating, residents will help to preserve our existing landfills and support the City in achieving its circular economy goals by recovering these valuable materials.
Residents can drive through the event site and drop off the accepted items at the designated collection points. The materials will then be loaded onto the waiting trucks and sent for further processing.
No bookings required. For Gold Coast residents only.
Accepted items
- e-waste (electrical and electronic items – for safety reasons please separate any batteries and light bulbs from electrical items)
- Household linen (sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths and towels)
- Fire extinguishers
- Vapes and e-cigarettes
What is not accepted
For safety and operational reasons, the following items cannot be accepted:
- General household waste
- General recyclables, such as cardboard, plastics, cans and packaging
- Organic and/or garden waste
- Commercial waste
- Clothes, doonas, woollen blankets, pillows, padded textiles
- Construction and demolition materials
- Asbestos
- Explosives, ammunition, or fireworks
- Medical waste
- Upholstery and carpets
- Furniture
- Solar panels
- Fuel based items (lawn mowers and heaters)
- Large household appliances (e.g. fridges, freezers, washing machines, etc.)
Important information
- Residents may be asked to provide proof of Gold Coast residency
- Event staff will be available to direct vehicles and assist participants
- Please follow the traffic management directions to ensure everyone involved is kept safe
- Please remain in your vehicle unless directed by event staff
- Household quantity’s only will be accepted
Getting there
