Chinatown Mooncake Festival

The Chinatown Gold Coast Taskforce, a sub-committee of the Southport Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce the launch of the Mooncake Festival, a family-friendly celebration of culture, community and connection.

Festivities will officially commence with a VIP ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Mayor Tom Tate, followed by spectacular Lion Dances and Dragon Dances to bring good fortune and joy to the precinct.

There will be street stalls and footpath dining in Davenport and Young Streets, cultural activities in Davison Lane, and a Children’s Festival with free parking at Australia Fair Metro.

Festival program

• 12:00pm – Official Ribbon Cutting and first Lion Dance and Dragon Dance performance
• 1:00pm to 4:00pm – Children’s program sponsored by Australia Fair Metro: face painting, balloon twisting, and calligraphy
• 1:00pm to 4:00pm – Cultural activities in Davison Lane sponsored by the Australian National Chinese Women’s Federation and Griffith University Tourism Confucius Institute: dance performances, arts and crafts, traditional clothing parades and Dragon Dance
• 6:00pm – Have a delicious dinner in Chinatown, look out for our giveaways!
• 8:00pm – Close

The event will also highlight the precinct’s future vision to reimagine Chinatown Gold Coast as a vibrant hub for cultural experiences, dining, and entertainment.

This free public event is supported by the Chinatown Gold Coast Taskforce and the Southport Chamber of Commerce.
