Blood Moon: Total Lunar Eclipse
Tuesday 03 March 2026 | 07:00 PM
Lower Beechmont
Witness the spectacular Blood Moon as Earth’s shadow transforms the Moon deep red during a rare Total Lunar Eclipse.
Join Gold Coast Astronomy’s own passionate Amateur Astronomer, John McDonald as we come together to observe a spectacular Total Lunar Eclipse... the iconic Blood Moon.
Rather than disappearing into darkness, the eclipsed Moon often glows a deep copper-red hue; the phenomenon we call a Blood Moon. Discover why this happens, what makes this Event so special, and many more fascinating insights as we guide you through this annual celestial alignment.
The night will include telescope viewing and guided commentary throughout the eclipse, allowing guests to follow each stage of the Event as it unfolds in real time above the Gold Coast sky.
Our Public Astronomy Night events explore a specific topic and encourage interactive discussions around the astronomical events we often take for granted, making this night suitable for curious minds of all ages.
Entry is by Gold Coin Donation per person, making this a relaxed and accessible community Event for everyone.
Hot tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and light snacks will be available throughout the night for $2, keeping you warm and comfortable under the stars.
We look forward to welcoming you and embarking on an educational and memorable night exploring our Galaxy and beyond...
