About the Workshop

Join Creative Producer Laura Strange and Hey Mate Founder Aimee Davies for a special edition of Artist Toolkit this Queensland Mental Health Week.

This session blends practical insight with hands-on creativity to support artists and arts workers in reconnecting with their mental wellbeing.

About the Facilitators

Aimee Davies (top image) is a counsellor, creative industries advocate, and founder of Hey Mate, a social enterprise supporting mental health across Australia’s creative sector. With over 15 years' experience in arts, health, and social impact, Aimee will open the session with a reflective and interactive conversation on navigating burnout, resilience, and redefining success as a creative. You’ll explore peer-based support strategies, small-but-powerful wellbeing tools, and take part in guided reflections to help ease the pressure of constant productivity.

Laura Strange (lower image)Creative Health Program Lead with over a decade of experience across the arts, health, and design sectors for a hands-on workshop exploring how creativity can become a tool for connection, regulation, and self-care. Laura will guide you through calming mark-making techniques, show how art-making supports the nervous system, and help you rediscover the joy of creating just for yourself.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, creatively blocked, or just ready for a reset, this is a chance to slow down, connect, and take away meaningful tools to support your wellbeing both in and beyond your creative practice.
