Coast Acoustics: Folk, Fun & Festive Prizes
Sunday 23 November 2025 | 12:30 PM
Nerang
Join us for a great afternoon of acoustic music filled with community spirit where musicians and music lovers come together.
Just before our usual open mic we'll be having our AGM. This will start at 12pm, all are welcome to attend the AGM, only paid up members are allowed to vote. Speaking of paid up members, you can now renew your club 2026 membership at the open mic, just chat to our friendly staff on the front desk!
- Festive Fun – We’ve been busy elves! We’ve put together a gorgeous Christmas hamper for the raffle (more on that soon), and we’ll also be serving up some delicious platters of savoury and sweet festive treats for everyone to enjoy and share.
- Super Duper raffle – Our raffles help keep the club running, and your support means the world to us. This month, our raffle is all about giving back to you! Thanks to the touching generosity of the owners of a stunning rainforest cabin on Tamborine Mountain, we are raffling off a weekend for two in that beautiful retreat, our way of saying thanks to our supporters. We'll also be raffling off other prizes including a Christmas hamper.
- Feature Act – We’re returning back to one of our most loved genres, folk, and welcoming back a much-admired duo we haven’t seen for far too long: Mundy-Turner.
Mundy-Turner are singer-songwriter duo Cath Mundy & Jay Turner, with Cath on violin, piano and ukulele, Jay on acoustic guitar, harmonica and stomp-box and featuring both on vocals.
Together, they have released seven full-length albums of original material and toured the UK, Aotearoa, Italy, Canada, Hong Kong and Australia, and supported such artists as Fairport Convention, The Dubliners and The Corrs.
Known for their folk-country-rock-blues fusion stylings, soaring vocal harmonies and masterful storytelling songs, Mundy-Turner’s concerts run the full gamut of human emotions - all presented with a daffy sense of humour and a deep love of humanity.
In celebration of their 30 years of musical partnership, Cath & Jay this year released a new 7-track EP via Blue Shamrock Music, curiously titled “Millard Pop-Top ’74”. This release was closely followed by several new singles, garnering airplay in Australia, USA and Europe.
Earlier this year, Cath & Jay were commissioned to create the national choral arrangement of Goanna's iconic anthem "Solid Rock" which was performed by 700 choirs around Australia, for Voices for Reconciliation 2025.
Last month, they were finalists in two national music awards, as one of five Best Duo finalists at the Australian Folk Music Awards and Cath one of three finalists in the Humanitarian Category of the Australian Women in Music Awards.
Last year, the duo were each awarded OAMs (Order of Australia Medals) for their Services to Performing Arts over the decades, with Cath being particularly honoured for her contribution to Community Choirs.
At Coast Acoustics, they will be joined by their 18-year-old son Joshua on bass guitar.
